Scholarships from Mount de Sales Academy

  • St. Francis de Sales Scholarship

    • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen (Class of 2028)
    • Amount: Up to half-tuition per year
    • Renewable: Each year if student remains in good academic/conduct standing
    • Application Needed: No
    • Number of Scholarships Awarded: Varies by applicant class but multiple St. Francis de Sales scholarships are awarded annually
    • These scholarships are awarded solely based on High School Placement Test scores and middle school grades. All applicants are automatically eligible.

  • St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship

    • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen (Class of 2028)
    • Amount: $2,500 per year
    • Renewable: Each year if student remains in good academic/conduct standing
    • Application Needed: No
    • Number of Scholarships Awarded: Varies by applicant class but multiple St. Thomas Aquinas scholarships are awarded annually
    • These scholarships are awarded solely based on High School Placement Test scores and middle school grades. All applicants are automatically eligible.

  • Anchor Scholarship

    • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen (Class of 2028)
    • Amount: $1,000-$3,000 per year
    • Renewable: Each year if student remains in good academic/conduct standing
    • Application Needed: Yes
    • Application Requirements:
      1. Typed essay detailing the applicant's leadership activities in the classroom, community and/or on the field.
      2.  At least one recommendation from an adult who has held an advisory or supervising role in the applicant's activities. The recommendation needs to speak directly to role the applicant held in each activity and needs to be submitted directly from the recommender.

  • St. Cecilia Music Scholarship

    • Recipients: Incoming freshmen (Class of 2028)
    • Amount: $1,000 per year
    • Renewable: Each year if music class is on student's schedule and student remains in good academic/conduct standing
    • Application Requirements: Email admissions@mountdesales.org with your audition request and the following information:
      • Applicant’s full legal name
      • Current school
      • Instrument played (if applicable)
      • Number of years the applicant has been playing/singing
      • Number of years the applicant has taken private lessons
      • Name of applicant's current music teacher
    • Deadline to Apply: December 15, 2023
    • Auditions: Applicants will be contacted in early January 2024 to schedule an audition. Auditions are NOT indicative of an admissions decision. St. Cecilia Music scholarships are awarded to students for both vocal and instrumental music.
    • Preparation for Auditions: 
      Each audition will last approximately 20 minutes. Candidates should come prepared with:
      • Two selections of contrasting style, each 30 seconds or so.
      • Singers sing A Cappella or bring their own accompaniment (on phone is fine)
      • There will also be a brief interview and sight-reading to end the audition
    • Number of Scholarships Awarded: Three (3) vocal and three (3) instrumental scholarships are awarded annually.

  • Fra Angelico Art Scholarship

    • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen (Class of 2028)
    • Amount: $1,000 per year
    • Renewable: Each year if art class is on student's schedule and student remains in good academic/conduct standing

  • St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Grant

    • Grant Details: Annual grant to incoming freshmen (Class of 2028) whose parent is a current employee in a Catholic school
    • Amount: $1,000 annually
    • Renewable: Each year as long as their parent(s) remains employed in a Catholic school and the student remains in good academic/conduct standing
    • Application Needed: Employment verified annually on FACTS application

    • Cupola Grant

      • Grant Details: Awarded to incoming direct legacy students who do not already have a sibling in the school at the same time. Grants are limited to an alumna’s sister, daughter or granddaughter. 
      • Amount: $1,000 annually
      • Renewable: Each year as long as the student remains in good academic/conduct standing
      • Application Needed: Alumna information confirmed by MDSA Alumnae Association.

      Scholarships Sponsored by a Foundation or Fund

      • St. Martin de Porres Scholarship

        • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen of Hispanic/Latina ethnicity
        • Amount: $1,500 per year
        • Renewable: Each year if student remains in good academic/conduct standing
        • Application Requirements: Submit a typed essay with your full legal name on a Word or PDF document, written from the following prompt: Describe how your Hispanic/Latina heritage has contributed to your personal identity and view of life
        • Deadline to Apply: December 15, 2023
        • Submission: Please email application to admissions@mountdesales.org
        • Number of Scholarships Awarded: One (1) scholarship is awarded annually.
        • This scholarship was established for Hispanic/Latina students through the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Ivan H. Garcia.
      • Guardians of Life Scholarship

        • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen who are Catholic
        • Amount: $2,500 per year to a qualifying recipient
        • Renewable: Each year if student remains in good academic/conduct standing

        • Deadline to Apply: December 15, 2023
        • Submission: Email all application materials to admissions@mountdesales.org
        • Number of Scholarships Awarded: One (1) scholarship is awarded annually.
        • The Guardians of Life Scholarship is awarded to a student whose essay and project proposal promote a better understanding and non-violent initiatives to protect the unborn and help young women in need. This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Guardians of Life Foundation.
      • Semper Fi Scholarship

        • Eligible Recipients: Incoming freshmen, rising sophomores, rising juniors, and rising seniors.
        • Important Requirement: Applicants must be practicing Catholics who meet requirements listed on the scholarship application. Students grades 9 - 12 may apply for a Semper Fi Scholarship. 
        • Amount: Allocated by selection committee.
        • Renewable: Possible. Annual application required.
        • Application Requirements: Application, parent essay, student essay, parish and pastor documentation, and completion of FACTS application. To view the Semper Fi Scholarship Application, click here. 
        • Deadline to Apply: January 12, 2024. Applications will be processed in January 2024.

        • The Semper Fi Scholarship is established in memory of the many Marines who have remained “always faithful” to God, country and the Corps, and to acknowledge and support those Catholic families who have been faithful to living their Catholic faith. You do not need to have a tie to the military to apply.
      • Knott Scholarship Funds

        The Knott Scholarship Funds have been providing merit based, full-tuition scholarships for academically talented Catholic elementary and secondary school students for 41 years. Awarded in the 4th grade for grades 5 through 8, or 8th grade for grades 9 through 12, scholarships are awarded to Catholic students in the Archdiocese of Baltimore who wish to attend a Catholic school.

        Los Fondos de Becas Knott han estado brindando becas de matrícula completa basadas en el mérito para estudiantes de escuelas primarias y secundarias católicas con talento académico durante 41 años. Las becas, que se otorgan en cuarto grado para los grados 5 a 8, o en 8.° grado para los grados 9 a 12, se otorgan a estudiantes católicos de la Arquidiócesis de Baltimore que deseen asistir a una escuela católica.

      • Maryland Knights of Columbus

        The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus is the sponsor of several High School scholarships for its members and for Catholic Students in general.

        Awards may be applied to tuition payments only. Visit https://kofc-md.org/high-school-scholarships/ for descriptions, application information and eligibility. The application period is from October to February. All applications must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than February 1, 2024.
      • G.B. Charities

        G.B. Charities (GBC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the Baltimore Community through the education of its youth. GBC sponsors promising students from hard working, low income families living in at-risk areas, contributing to their tuition at accredited faith based schools.

      • The Theresa F. Truschel Charitable Foundation

        The Theresa F. Truschel Charitable Foundation’s mission to provide scholarships to students attending Catholic schools at all levels within the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Visit

      • Parish Resource

        Families are encouraged to check with their parishes regarding the possibility of limited tuition assistance for Catholic students attending Catholic schools.
