CDC has issued guidelines for travel during this outbreak of COVID-19. We ask that, for the safety of your family and the MDSA community, you please adhere to these guidelines, which
you can view here.
As per the Order of the Governor of the State of Maryland Number 20-12-17-01 Authorizing Quarantine and/or Testing of Travelers, Mount de Sales Academy has revised the travel policy for student, faculty and staff.
Students: Parents of students electing to proceed with travel will be required to meet the following criteria prior to re-entering school. Any student returning from out-of-state or international travel will be required to be tested for COVID-19 promptly upon arrival in Maryland. Those traveling will be required to quarantine upon their return until such time as either they provide evidence of a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic or they complete an entire 10 day quarantine. Please note: We will not accept “at home” COVID tests.
Faculty/Staff: Any Faculty/Staff returning from out-of-state or international travel will be required to be tested to be tested for COVID-19 promptly upon arrival in Maryland. Those traveling will be required to quarantine upon their return until such time as either they provide evidence of a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic or they complete an entire 10 day quarantine.
In summary the impact to travel is as follow:
- All out of State and International travel is now subject to the travel health order. Per the order individuals are discouraged from travel to any state or international destination. This travel restriction applies to all states and international destination except, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.
- There is no longer a threshold to consider such as a positivity rate of 10%. This travel order applies to all travel with the exempted states noted above.
- The period of quarantine is now reduced from 14 to 10 days.
- Individuals can secure a COVID-19 test immediately upon return to the State of Maryland. With a negative PCR test result they are then released from the quarantine. Please note: We will not accept “at home” COVID tests.
