Veteran’s Day Mass and Breakfast

The Support the Troops Club would like to invite all military veterans and their MDSA families to Mass in remembrance of Veteran's Day on Tuesday, November 11 at 7:10 a.m. in the chapel. We will celebrate our veterans and recognize the great sacrifices they made to help preserve our country's freedom. Trip to Nashville

The Sodality is again sponsoring a trip to Nashville to visit the Motherhouse and other Nashville sights. This year, to allow for more people to come, the trip will be over a long weekend (depart February 13, return February 16). Sips with Sisters

MDSA will host a morning Sips with Sisters once a month from 7:15 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. to offer an opportunity for students to relax and enjoy the company of their fellow sisters while drinking a morning cup of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea. Our hope is to get donations so that we do not need to charge the students for this initiative. We are looking for parents to donate any of the following:

Graduation Announcements

Please do not forget that orders for Graduation Announcements are due by Thursday, October 30. All orders for the customized MDSA graduation announcements must be turned in by October 30. Please note that these specialized embossed MDSA announcements cannot be ordered after October 30. Late orders will not be accepted.

Senior Gown Fittings

The Class of 2015 will be fitted for their graduation dresses on Wednesday, October 29. Love it at Stella's Bridal & Fashions will be at school for the dress fittings. The dress costs $243.80 (Tax included). Payment is due at the time of the dress fittings. Each senior has an appointment time to come to the Bird Room for their dress fitting that school day. Mothers are welcome to come join their daughter as they get measured and try on their graduation dresses.

Living Rosary

The Knights of Columbus brought the Rosary to life with the Living Rosary tradition. The Rosary is life size and held by members of each class who sign up to hold a bead and to say a prayer. The interactive event is an opportunity for the entire school to come and pray together.

Fall Fest and Talent Show

We had a spirited Fall Festival and Talent show on Friday, October 17. The seniors started the day bright and early to deck the halls with red and to welcome the cars in the morning with shouts and cheers. Students dressed in creative outfits that showcased their class spirit. After classes students enjoyed lunch on the piazza followed by the Talent Show and the announcement of the Powder Puff Queen and her Court. Congratulations to the Seniors for placing first in the Talent Show! Congratulations to the Powder Puff Queen and her Court!

Christmas Bazaar Basket Collections

The Silent Auction Committee is collecting items to fill the baskets that will be auctioned during the Christmas Bazaar. Each student is asked to donate an item for their homeroom "Theme" basket and bring it in by October 29. Thank you for your support of the Parents' Club.

Tomorrow is the First iPray of the Year!

The first iPray of the year is tomorrow, Friday October 17. There will be a talk given by Miss Mastroianni, adoration, confession, and praise and worship from a talented musician from 7-8 p.m. Afterwards there will be food and karaoke from 8-9 p.m. Come and have fun!

PSAT Details

The PSAT will be administered to Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors on Wednesday, October 15 from 8 a.m. to approximately 11:15 a.m. Students should report to their homerooms in uniform for attendance and testing unless otherwise specified. Please note that Tommy's will not be providing any food service on the day of testing. Refer to the PSAT booklet that was placed in the mailboxes for rules regarding snacks, proper pencils, acceptable calculators and more. IAAM Leadership Conference

Student athletes Hannah Ignacio '16, Caroline Arnold '16, Taylor Forgen '17 and athletic director Annie McDonald attended the 2nd annual IAAM Leadership Conference on Thursday, October 2 at St. Timothy's School in Stevenson, Maryland. They attended three breakout sessions with presentations on different aspects of student-athlete leadership and were able to interact with other student athletes in the league. The keynote speaker was Missy Meharg, head field hockey coach at University of Maryland.

MixedBag Fundraiser Update

Attention parents of Juniors and Seniors: The closing date for MixedBag sales has CHANGED. The NEW DATE is Monday, November, 10. This is to ensure that all orders will be delivered before we depart for Christmas break. Reminder: Students who sell at least $450 of MixedBags (before taxes) will receive a FREE prom ticket! We receive 50% of our total sales, which goes towards helping with the cost of the Junior/Senior Prom.

20th MDSA Homecoming

The 20th Anniversary Homecoming is Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be activities and family fun for all ages! Pick up a 20th Anniversary T-shirt and support our clubs and classes! There will be face and pumpkin painting, raffles, snacks, bake sales, drinks, and entertainment.

Homecoming Dance Details

Mount de Sales Dance Time: 7-10 p.m. (No entry after 8 p.m., no departure before 9:30 p.m.) Dresses should be MDSA appropriate. (Dresses should be modest. No cutouts, low cut, high slits or short lengths. Dresses should be no more than 2 inches above the knee.) Gentlemen should be in suits and ties. Parents please note: If your daughter has purchased a ticket to the dance and is not going to attend due to illness or other circumstances, please contact the school before 5:00 p.m. on Friday. We get concerned if a student doesn't attend but purchased a ticket. Thank you.

Athletic Director and Three Students Attend IAAM Leadership Conference

The 2nd annual IAAM Leadership Conference will be held on Thursday, October 2 at St. Timothy's School. The keynote speaker is Missy Meharg, head field hockey coach at University of Maryland. Mount de Sales will be represented by Taylor Forgen '17, Hannah Ignacio '16, Caroline Arnold '16 and Annie McDonald, athletic director. Throughout the morning, the girls will attend three breakout sessions with presentations on different aspects of student athlete leadership. This provides a great opportunity to gain knowledge from the presentations geared toward student leaders in athletics as well as interact with other student athletic leaders in the league. "Our goal for this half-day session is to engage a diverse and dynamic representation of our student-athletes and coaches and provide pertinent and customized sessions that will enhance personal awareness, improve leadership skills and hopefully bring key learning and information back to your school community." - IAAM
