26th Annual Father-Daughter Cotillion

The 26th annual Father-Daughter Cotillion was held on Saturday, March 14. This momentous event is a new tradition for some, a returning joy for others, and a farewell for seniors. Seniors enjoyed a special dinner with their fathers in the Music Hall before the dance began. The rest of the night was spend dancing, laughing, and celebrating!

Scholarship Breakfast

On Thursday, March 12, Mount de Sales Academy scholarship benefactors and recipients joined together for a breakfast in the Music Hall to celebrate the spirit of giving. Mount de Sales has substantially increased tuition assistance and scholarships offered to incoming and current students. This is possible in large part because of benefactor funded scholarships that provide a variety of student aid such as merit, service, advocacy, and need based.

Junior Retreat Rescheduled

The Junior Retreat has been rescheduled for Monday, March 30. Juniors will leave MDSA at 7:15 a.m. to go to Mount Saint Mary's campus for their Retreat. They will return to MDSA at 5:30 p.m.

Due to the number of snow days and delays in the 3rd quarter there will be several adjustments made to the academic calendar. Please note the changes below: March 19 - No longer end of 3rd quarter March 23 - Regular school day (Day 2) March 25 - New end of 3rd quarter date March 27 - 4th quarter begins April 1 - Report Cards will still be distributed on this date April 21 - Mid Quarter for Seniors April 29 - Mid Quarter for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors

Sailors Travel to Nashville!

On Presidents’ weekend, 35 Mount de Sales girls, along with faculty and parent chaperones, journeyed to Nashville, Tennessee to visit St. Cecilia Motherhouse, the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters who serve here at Mount de Sales. While in Nashville, the girls volunteered at a shelter for women and children in need, visited downtown Nashville, and spent a day at Bethany Retreat House outside Nashville.

In accordance with Baltimore County Public Schools, MDSA will be closed on Friday, March 6. The junior retreat will be rescheduled and further details will be provided next week.

Father-Daughter Cotillion

The Father-Daughter Cotillion scheduled for Saturday, March 7 will be rescheduled to Saturday, March 14. This new date will accommodate the completion of work on the school kitchen and ensure that it will be fully operational for the event as well as planning for the safety of all after the snow storm.

In accordance with Baltimore County Public Schools, MDSA is closing at 12:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 3, 2015. There will be NO aftercare. All afternoon and evening activities are canceled.

Irish Dancers Step Ahead

As St. Patrick's Day quickly approaches, several of our students are gearing up for various Irish dance competitions. Five students from Mount de Sales, Katie Ortel '16, Saoirse DeBoy '17, Gaby Stratmann '18, Emily Galoppo '18 and Ciara Ruane '18, train with the Teelin School of Irish Dance and will be performing in the Teelin Irish Dance Company show at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick on March 7 at 7 p.m. Come out and support your fellow sailors! Katie Ortel '16, Saoirse DeBoy '17, Gaby Stratmann '18, Emily Galoppo '18, as well as Madison Metheny '18, have also qualified for Worlds and will be competeing at the World Championships in Montreal, Canada, this spring. Congratulations and good luck to all of our Irish dancers!

Three Cheers for the Varsity Cheerleading Team

The Mount de Sales Varsity Cheerleading team competed in the Reach the Beach competition on February 28 in Ocean City, MD. They competed against teams from all over the east coast and placed 6th overall. Lindsey Nalley '15 and Maddie Kallmyer '15 took first place in the duo competition! Congratulations to the Varsity Cheerleading team!
