Images Contest

The Images literary magazine is sponsoring a contest for all students, requesting they send their poems, photographs, and images of student artwork to the club email, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Any student who emails a poem, photograph, or image of artwork that in some way expresses a theme of "Harmony" will be entered in a drawing for a Dunkin' Donuts gift card. Please mark the email subject "Harmony." Students may submit, and thereby enter the contest, multiple times. The deadline is November 30. The editors of the literary magazine may use any of the student submissions in the 2015-2016 edition of Images. We encourage all to participate!

Open House Volunteers Needed

Student and Parent Volunteers are needed for Open House! Students can earn Flex Hours! Congratulations Mrs. Ziff!

One of Mount de Sales' own English teachers, Mrs. Ziff, has recently received a great honor. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, has appointed Mrs. Ziff to serve as a member of the Governor's P-20 Leadership Council of Maryland! Congratulations Mrs. Ziff! Fall Festival and Talent Show

The Fall Festival and Talent show day is Friday, October 23 at MDSA. It is a free dress down. Students should show their class spirit and dress in class colors. Students will follow a 12:30 schedule for classes followed by fundraising tables and lunch. Then all will join together in the gym for the annual talent show and the announcement of the Powder Puff Queen and her court. On this day, there will be no food service. Students may bring a lunch or money to buy food from the many school groups hosting fundraising tables. Students can purchase pizza, tacos in a bag, nachos, drinks, and much more! Please plan to patronize these fundraisers to help our student organizations accomplish service outreach.

Graduation Gown Fittings

Appointment schedules for the Graduation gown fittings on October 30 are posted in the senior locker room and on Mrs. Lanciotti's office door. Each senior has been given an appointment time to come to the Bird Room for their dress fitting. Mothers are welcome to come join their daughters as they get measured and try on their graduation dresses. We have a few openings for appointments between 7 and 7:30 am on a first come first serve basis. Please contact Mrs. Lanciotti if you would like one of those appointments instead of the one assigned. Seniors may switch appointments with other seniors to better accommodate their mother's schedule.

Living Rosary

This morning the entire school prayed a Living Rosary together! Using a life-size rosary, the students recited prayers as each bead lit up in their hand. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus for bringing the Rosary to life with this annual tradition!

Donor Recognition Ceremony

It was a beautiful day for the Donor Recognition Ceremony. We are blessed by the many individuals who supported Phase I and Phase II of the Anchored in Excellence; Charting our Future Capital Campaign. The monument names benefactors who contributed $1,000 of more to the completion of these Campaigns. We recognize and thank everyone, named and unnamed, who made Anchored in Excellence; charting our Future possible through their gifts of prayer, service, and financial support.

iPray this Friday

Not doing anything this Friday night!? Come to Mount de Sales for the iPray! Teens for Catholic Action host Holy Hour, praise and worship in the evening several times a year. Any high school students are welcome to attend.

Sleep Out Information

As a part of the MDS Sleep Out schedule, we will be visiting the Weinburg Housing and Resource Center to bring over dinner and to hear from the residence. They’ve sent over their brochure if you’re interested in knowing more about it. They’ve also sent a wish list with items that they could always use. If you’d like to donate any of the following items on the list to the resource center, please drop them off to Miss Mastroianni in the campus ministry office any time before the iPray next Friday. You do not need to be involved in the event in order to donate any items.

World Youth Day

Mount de Sales is going to World Youth Day in Poland, Summer 2016! Parents and students are invited to come to an informational meeting on Thursday, October 15, at 6 p.m. in the Library lecture area (just before the Parents' Club meeting). Information will be provided including our itinerary, who can come, cost, fundraising, and most importantly, how to get on board! If you are interested at all in going, your attendance at this meeting is highly encouraged. IAAM Leadership Conference

The 3nd annual IAAM Leadership Conference was held on Thursday, October 8 at St. Timothy's School. Mount de Sales was represented by Elizabeth Gower ‘18, Amanda Grebosky ‘17, and Mary Popp ’17 and Athletic Director Annie McDonald. Throughout the morning, the girls attended breakout sessions with presentations on different aspects of student athlete leadership.

Knights of Columbus Scholarship

Each year the Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus awards three (3) Catholic high school scholarship grants to sons and daughters of members of the Knights of Columbus and three (3) Catholic high school scholarship' grants to Catholic students in general. Presently over thirty young Catholic men and women are enrolled in Maryland Catholic high schools of their choice, receiving financial assistance provided by these scholarship programs.

Volleyball PINK OUT!

Yesterday, the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams held a PINK OUT fundraiser for their match against John Carroll. They held raffles and more to raise funds and spread awareness for breast cancer. All proceeds will be donated to the Saint Agnes Breast Cancer patients and families in need.

Parent Coffee

Please join us for a special Parent Coffee, open to all Mount de Sales parents, October 16 from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. with time for questions following the presentation. Our topic will be "Anxiety and Teenagers" given by our guest speaker Mrs. Whitney Thompson. Mrs. Thompson is a local Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in Anxiety and Depression in teenagers and parenting skills. Her talk will be centered on how to identify anxiety in teenagers, ways it can affect a student and her family, and what we as parents and educators can do to help. Homecoming Dance Postponed

Due to the State of Emergency declared by Governor Hogan, the impact of the Nor’easter this evening, and the limitation of having only one entrance and exit with a steep incline, the Homecoming dance scheduled for this evening will now be postponed and a new date will be announced next week. At this time, Homecoming events planned for Saturday, October 3 are still happening, unless Baltimore County postpones all Saturday activities.
