Advent Preparation

Sunday marked the beginning of the Advent season. Today, MDSA students and faculty gathered together in the chapel to light the first advent candle. The Advent season is a time of expectant waiting and preparation of our hearts and minds for the celebration of the birth of our Lord at Christmas. We hope that you enjoy this beautiful season!

Grade Scale Information

Holocaust Survivors Visit MDSA

Four remarkable Holocaust survivors recently visited Mount de Sales Academy and spoke to students in Mrs. Marlatt’s class, Study of the Holocaust: The Choices They Made. In addition to visiting the National Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., students had the honor of listening to guest speakers including Holocaust survivors.

Support for the Victims of Terrorism

Due to the current events in Paris, Teens for Catholic Action is raising awareness for the crisis in the middle east particularly Syria which has led to over 4,000,000 refugees and 200,000 deaths. To show their support and offer the prayers students are wearing red, blue, and green ribbons. Red and Blue for France and Green for Syria.

The Fall Sports Awards and Banquet was held on Thursday, November 12. Teams gathered for dinner and then attended the award ceremony in the Gym. Congratulations to all the Sailor sports teams on their success this fall!

Students joined in the chapel to pray the rosary in French for the terrorist victims in Paris. We all continue to pray for peace in all corners of our world.

Christmas Bazaar & Spaghetti Dinner

The Parents’ Club of Mount de Sales Academy will host its annual Christmas Bazaar and Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday, December 6, from noon to 6 p.m. Shop for handmade crafts, enjoy delicious sweets and baked goods, visit Santa’s Secret Shop for children, bid on silent auction theme baskets, raffles, and much more! Student performers will fill the air with festive holiday music.

Several weeks ago, a group of girls who completed an exceptional amount of service were invited to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.

“Rethink Recycling” Sculpture Contest

MDSA students are ready to roar! Today, at the 14th annual “Rethink Recycling” Sculpture Contest, Carley Blyth ‘16 and Rosemarie McAuliffe ’16 won first place in the "Best Use of Materials" category for creating “The Lion,” a sculpture made using Styrofoam, copper wire, test tubes and cardboard. The contest was hosted by the Maryland Department of the Environment in Baltimore

Sophomore Pin Mass

After Mass today, the Class of 2018 received their sophomore pins. At the center of each pin is the MDSA logo of the Madonna and Child. May this pin serve as an ever-present reminder for our students to look to Mary as their model and to keep faith at the center of their lives.

Veterans Day Mass

The Support the Troops Club would like to invite all military veterans and active duty and their MDSA families to Mass in remembrance of Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:10 a.m. in the chapel. We will celebrate our veterans and recognize the great sacrifices they made to help preserve our country's freedom. Please join us for Mass and then a brief reception with coffee and donuts to follow immediately after in the Bird Room.

Soccer Team’s Act of Kindness

The JV and Varsity Soccer players teamed up with Hope for All this season by creating a Coat Drive. The team collected coats and encouraged other members of the Mount de Sales community to donate as well. Check out the Baltimore Sun article about their service project.
