17th Annual Golf Tournament
It was a beautiful day for the 17th Annual Golf Tournament held at the Rolling Road Country Club on Monday, April 25! Over 85 golfers participated in this year’s golf outing.
Three New Scholarships Announced!
Mount de Sales Academy is pleased to announce three newly created scholarships, which are endowed and will exist in perpetuity at MDSA. Below are details on the Reverend Michael J.P. Roach Scholarship, one $5,000 scholarship to be awarded to a rising senior, and the Cookie Harris Pro-Life Advocacy Scholarship, two $750 scholarships to be awarded with one to a rising junior and one to a rising senior. An overview with criteria for each scholarship is detailed below.
Senior Art Exhibit
The senior Art Exhibit and Reception was held on Sunday, April 24. Each student displayed a compilation of art they have created over the years for the MDSA community to enjoy. We are very proud of our senior art students!

29th Friendship Tournament
The weather was beautiful for the 29th Annual Friendship Lacrosse Tournament held at Mount de Sales Academy on Sat. April 16. We were delighted to welcome Liberty, River Hill, and Oakdale high school players, coaches, and fans to MDSA for a day full of bracket play to decide a champion.
Cupcake Wars Champion!
Last night's "Cupcake Wars" was a hit! Among the hustle and bustle of the competition there were also games and, of course, delicious cupcakes to purchase. With the proceeds from the event the Support the Troops club will be able to make a sizable donation to the Fisher House Foundation at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.

Great Scott! It's another Outdoor Movie Night at Mount de Sales! The Alumnae Association will be showing Back to the Future on the back lawn of Mount de Sales on Friday, May 13 for their second annual outdoor movie night. Movie begins at sundown.

Sailors Attend Music in the Parks!
Over the weekend, the MDSA Chorus, Concert Choir, and Orchestra traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia to participate in a musical competition hosted by Music in the Parks, a festival for student choral, orchestral, and band ensembles, held annually across the United States. The groups had the opportunity to perform on stage in front of adjudicators who gave scores, written comments, and recorded comments.
Sailors Compete in the SeaPerch Challenge
Four MDSA teams from the STEM class competed on Saturday, April 9, in the Maryland Regional SeaPerch Challenge, hosted by the US Naval Academy. SeaPerch is a collaborative effort between the Office of Naval Research and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. The SeaPerch Program, designed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, teaches underwater robotics to middle and high school students through the hands-on activity of building their own robots. Our teams competed in the high school division and two of the MDS teams placed into the final round of competition. A third MDS team won the Math Challenge with an almost-perfect score. All finalists earned a spot in the 2016 National SeaPerch Challenge.

Today, we rejoice as three students entered the Catholic Church during our all school Mass. An additional student, Sonia Lee’18, was previously baptized and received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Following Mass, family and fellow students attended a lovely reception in the library to celebrate this joyous occasion. Welcome home, Caroline Cornell ’16, Hannah Jones '16, Samantha Pestridge ’18, and Sonia Le ‘18!
MDSA Distinguished Scholars
The Archdiocese of Baltimore Department of Catholic Schools held the 24th Annual Distinguished Scholars Convocation on April 5 at Mercy High School. Each year this Convocation celebrates the recognition of the top academic students in the Archdiocese over their four years of high school. The academic convocation applauds and affirms what is accomplished at each individual Catholic school and demonstrates the unity and common mission of the pursuit of academic excellence within the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
MDSA Junior Wins at Worlds!
Mount de Sales junior, Saoirse DeBoy '17, won first place in her age group (16-17) for solo championships in Irish dancing, and has been crowned a 2016 World Champion! Congratulations Saoirse, this is a huge accomplishment and we are very proud!
After Prom Raffle Donations Needed!
