4th Annual Pink Out Games

4th Annual Pink Out Games

Despite the blizzard and having to reschedule the game, the 4th Annual Pink Out game was held on Feb. 3. Congrats to the varsity team who defeated St. John's Catholic Prep, 59-50. Way to go, Sailors!

The event was started in 2013 by former Mount de Sales player Katie Sauter ‘13, in honor of her mom Carol, who lost her battle to cancer in 2012. This year, seniors Maise Birrane and Becca MacDonald and Bridget Williams '17 spearheaded the event.

All proceeds raised will be donated to the St. Agnes Breast Cancer Foundation to help patients and their families who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Money was raised through a bake sale, gift tree raffle, and the Wall of Hearts, where Pink paper hearts were sold for $1 in memory of someone affected by cancer.

There were signs reading ‘Think Pink,’ 'Shoot For a Cure,’ and ‘Enjoy Life’ dispersed around the gym. The entrance to the gymnasium was decorated in pink balloons and Sailor players wore jerseys with pink lettering and pink socks. It was also Senior Night for the following Sailors: Maise Birrane, Sam Kenjorski, Becca MacDonald, Josie Whelan, and Madi Wrisk. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors!

The Mount de Sales cheerleaders wore Think Pink T-shirts to commemorate this special day.
