Field Hockey Team Triumphs

The game today began with some overcast skies and nerves as the Sailors entered into their 12th game of the season and 6th league game. The Eagles came out strong holding the Sailors till 13:01 when sophomore, #10 Charlotte Lacey scored. The Eagles continued to hold strong with solid cutting and evidence of heart in their play. However, could not hold the Sailor’s scoring streak.

Off of a corner at 8:10, junior #20 Hope Keller, scored with an assist by fellow teammate, junior, #8 Morgan Yandow-Harding. Continuing the momentum, sophomore #15, Abby Komiske scored at 5:20, and off of another corner in the last minute of the first half, senior #16, Libby Rehkemper scored with an assist by Keller. Ending the first half at 4-0.

The intensity of the game picked up as the Sailors began their second half still carrying their scoring momentum from the end of the first. Keller would score at 26:15, recording a hat trick for the night. She was assisted by senior, #23 Lindsey Kelly.
The final goal was scored by junior, #4 Maggie Dressman at 24:31, assisted by Komiske.

Eagle’s senior goalie recorded 21 saves for the night.

MDSA goalies, senior, Heather Stofregen and sophomore, Josie Hunter, split cage, both recordings shutouts for the night.

The Sailors are now 5-1-0 in the IAAM B Conference and #2 in league standings.
