MDSA Lacrosse Coach Announcement

Our search for the head Varsity Lacrosse Coach has come to conclusion.  After many meetings and interviews, we are happy to share that Coach Mike Tirocchi P’88 ’92 has been selected as the new head MDSA Varsity Lacrosse Coach, and he will be assisted by Ms. Jami Meirick, a former college assistant lacrosse coach.

We’re confident that Coach Mike’s 30 years of experience with MDSA and 16 years as a lacrosse coach will ensure stability and consistency to our lacrosse program. Coach Mike believes fully in our great nucleus of talented, experienced players as well as our young players who are ready to grow and compete.  He has no doubt that the team will remain successful in the competitive IAAM A Conference.

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Jami Meirick, a Certified NCAA Recruiter, will join the team as the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach.  She played high school lacrosse at Northeast High School followed by four years of Division II lacrosse at Slippery Rock University where she was team captain in 2013.  While at Slippery Rock, she was named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in 2012 and 2013 and was a PSAC Scholar Athlete 2010–2013.  She coached two years at Division II West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) as an assistant coach.  During her tenure at WVWC, the team finished second in the NCAA Mountain East Conference. She also helped develop the 2015 Conference Freshman of the year, three players on the 2015 All-Tournament Team, four players named to the 1st Team All-Conference, and three players named 2nd Team All-Conference.

Jami is excited to join our school community and develop our girls’ lacrosse skills. She enjoys all aspects of coaching and believes an athlete has the opportunity to learn and develop key skills and traits that are invaluable going forth in life.   With her analytical and tactical skills, alongside Coach Mike’s years of lacrosse experience, we’re assured that this cohesive strategy will allow the team to forge forward with a successful season.

Please join us on Tuesday, January 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bird Room for a meet and greet. This will allow time to interact with the coaches, ask questions, and find out more about the upcoming 2016 lacrosse tryouts. We hope you can join us. We’re looking forward to an amazing lacrosse season!
