MDSA selected as a Microsoft Showcase School!

MDSA selected as a Microsoft Showcase School!

Mount de Sales Academy  was selected by Microsoft as a 2017-2018 Microsoft Showcase School for their excellence in transforming its learning environment to deliver more personalized education to students.

The Microsoft Showcase Schools program recognizes innovative leaders in schools around the world. As Microsoft Showcase Schools, leadership teams are part of a professional community that thoughtfully leverages technology to drive digital transformation and efficiencies in schools.

Additionally, Lindsey Murphy, Educational Technology Director at MDSA, was recognized as a Microsoft Innovative Educator expert. Each year, Microsoft selects innovative educators to share ideas, try new approaches and learn from each other as a global community dedicated to improving student outcomes through technology. As an MIE Expert, educators build their capacity for using technology in both the classroom and curriculum to improve student learning. They also advise Microsoft and educational institutions on how to integrate technology in pedagogically sound ways, and advocate at conferences, events and trainings for how Microsoft technology can improve learning.

“At Mount de Sales,” shares Mrs. Murphy, “we are proud to renew our distinction as a Microsoft Showcase School for the 2017-18 school year. Teachers and students are using Office 365 and Microsoft education tools such as OneNote Class Notebooks, Microsoft Forms, and Sway in innovative ways to enhance the learning experience for students daily. We have found that Microsoft tools help to foster and encourage important 21st century skills such as communication and collaboration among students and teachers. We are excited to continue our journey with Microsoft while exhibiting innovative practices with technology in the classroom.”

Principal Sister Mary Thomas adds, “We have tried to focus on technology as an engagement tool which does not inhibit student communication and relationships in the classroom.  We emphasize the great good that technology can bring while concentrating first and foremost on student communication and relationships.”
