MDSA Named as a Microsoft Showcase School!

Laura O'Friel '06 Director of Professional Development shares, "We are greatly honored to be recognized as a Microsoft Showcase School for the sixth consecutive year. Mount de Sales set a clear mission in its use of technology when it moved to a BYOD policy in 2015: integrate digital tools as appropriate without losing the human dignity inherent in face-to-face interaction.

Our faculty and staff demonstrated deep commitment to this goal when faced with the challenges of the 2020-2021 hybrid learning environment. Teachers used Teams and other Office365 tools to creatively foster interpersonal engagement and real time collaboration. Those lesson strategies propelled academic learning and reflected how greatly we cherish human relationships in the classroom.

The Microsoft Showcase School program connects Mount de Sales to a global community of educators who value purposeful, authentic uses of technology. We are excited to continue to learn and innovate alongside our fellow Showcase Schools!"

Additionally, four MDSA faculty/staff members have been selected as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts. Congratulations to the following
(L to R):

  • Helen Hufford - English Department Chair
  • Liz Johnson - Social Science Department Chair
  • Val Bailey - Dean of Student Affairs, Science Teacher
  • Laura O'Friel - Director of Professional Development, Social Science Teacher
