Physics Egg Drop

Many of the students in Sister Mary Celeste's physics class have been getting their drivers license this year, so the class has been looking at how the laws and principles of physics demonstrate the effectiveness of seat belts and airbags in collisions. Yesterday, they each built a crash landing pad for an egg out of paper and tape. The pads should work to increase the impact time and reduce the force on the delicate egg shell as its momentum decreased. The students’ creativity soared, and they had a lot of fun testing their landing pads!
