Scholarships from Mount de Sales Academy

Academic Scholarships – No extra application needed

Father Duerr Scholarship

Amount: Half-tuition or quarter-tuition/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Extra application needed: No
These scholarships are awarded solely based on High School Placement Test scores. All applicants are automatically eligible.

St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship

Amount: $2,500/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Extra application needed: No
These scholarships are awarded solely based on High School Placement Test scores. All applicants are automatically eligible.

Golden Counsel Scholarship

Amount: $1,000/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Extra application needed: No
These scholarships are awarded to applicants who exhibit high achievement. All applicants are automatically eligible.

Leadership Scholarship

Amount: $2,500/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Extra application needed: All applicants are automatically eligible.
These scholarships are awarded to applicants who exhibit leadership.

Service Scholarship

Amount: $2,500/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Extra application needed: All applicants are automatically eligible.
These scholarships are awarded to applicants who exhibit active participation in service.

St. Cecilia Music Scholarship

Audition requests due to the Admissions Office by December 15, 2017
Amount: $1,000/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Application Requirements: Submit an audition request by December 15, 2017 to the Admissions Office with:
-Student’s Name
-Student’s School
-If student is audition for vocal or instrumental (if applicable, which instrument)
-Year student has been playing/singing

Admissions will contact students in January 2017 for a February 2018 audition with Music Director Jeff Hosier. Applicants should prepare for:
- A brief musical performance of excerpts from two contrasting pieces of music that best demonstrate your abilities
- An interview to determine your musical resume and theoretical background

Fra Angelico Art Scholarship

Portfolios due to the Admissions Office (or dropped off at reception) by December 15, 2017
Amount: $1,000/year
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met

Saint Martin de Porres Scholarship

Essays due to the Admissions Office by December 15, 2017
Amount: $1,500/year to qualifying recipients
Renewable: Each year if requirements are met
Application Requirements: Submit essay written from this prompt: Describe how your Hispanic heritage has contributed to your personal identity and view of life. Essays must be typed and include the applicant’s name.
Special Requirement: Applicants must be of Hispanic ethnicity
This scholarship was established for Hispanic students through the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Ivan H. Garcia.

Guardians of Life Scholarship

Applications due to the Admissions Office by December 15, 2017
Amount: $2,500/year
Renewable: Yes
Extra application needed: Essay, project proposal, and letters of recommendation.
Special Requirement: Applicants must be Catholic. The Guardians of Life Scholarship is awarded to a student whose essay and project proposal promote a better understanding and non-violent initiatives to protect the unborn and help young women in need.

Semper Fi Scholarship

Applications due to the Business Office by January 1, 2018
Amount: Allocated by selection committee
Renewable: Possibly. Annual application required.
Extra application needed: Application, parent essay, student essay, parish and pastor documentation, and completion of FACTS application.
Special Requirement: Applicants must be practicing Catholics who meet requirements listed on the scholarship application. Students grades 9-12 may apply for a Semper Fi Scholarship.

The Semper Fi Scholarship is established in memory of the many Marines who have remained “always faithful” to God, country and the Corps, and to acknowledge and support those Catholic families who have been faithful to living their Catholic faith.

Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund

The Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund recognizes significant contributions of teachers and administrators in Catholic Schools by supporting the education of their dependent children in memory of Colleen and Erin Marlatt. The Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund is open to high school students who attend a Catholic high school or college students attending University of Maryland College Park. The Applicant must be the dependent child of a full-time teacher or administrator with at least three years’ experience, currently serving at a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Knott Scholarship Funds

The Knott Scholarship Funds award four-year, full-tuition scholarships to attend a Catholic high school located in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, or Howard counties. These scholarships look to honor Catholic students who excel in academics. To apply for these scholarships the student MUST meet ALL of the criteria. Maryland Knights of Columbus

The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus is the sponsor of several high school scholarships for its members and for Catholic Students in general. Awards may be applied to tuition payments only. Visit kofc-md.org/state1617/committees/scholarships.asp.

The Theresa F. Truschel Charitable Foundation
