CELEBRATING 175 YEARS
Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, the Mount de Sales community will celebrate 175 years of tradition, achievement, and unwavering commitment to the education of young women. Founded in 1852 by the Visitation Sisters from Georgetown, Mount de Sales was the first Catholic school in Baltimore County to educate young women of all denominations. Originally a boarding and day school, the Academy welcomed students from across the United States and abroad.
Today, many historic features of the original campus remain, reflecting its rich heritage and place on the Maryland Historic Register. Since 1985, the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia have continued the Academy's Catholic educational tradition, helping to sustain the mission that has guided Mount de Sales for nearly two centuries.
