MISSION STATEMENT

Mount de Sales Academy forms young women in the spirit of Saint Francis de Sales and in fidelity to the Sacred Scripture and the Sacred Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church through a college preparatory education that nurtures the whole person.  Anchored in faith, the community of Mount de Sales Academy is committed to academic excellence, lifelong learning, moral responsibility, service to others, and the dignity of the human person.

  • How to Apply: Eighth Graders and Transfer Students

    1. Submit an inquiry form. Your inquiry will be processed in 24-48 business hours. You will receive instructions on how to access your Sailor Portal via email once the inquiry is processed. 
    2. Review your assigned checklist. Your checklist will list each item needed to complete your applicant file, including due dates.
  • Seventh Grade and Younger Families

    Families with students in seventh grade or younger (2022-2023 school year), please fill out an inquiry form. Once your inquiry form is processed you will receive an email with instructions on how to log on to the Sailor Portal. Your Sailor Portal will be updated each year with visit opportunities and other information about MDSA. Once your daughter begins her eighth grade year, your Sailor Portal will be updated with an admissions checklist that includes all items needed to complete your applicant file.
  • If the applicant attends an Archdiocese of Baltimore school

    1. Fill out an inquiry form.

    2. Submit your application by December 16, 2022.

    3. Take the High School Placement Test at your home elementary school in December.
    During online HSPT registration, select Mount de Sales as a school to receive your daughter's HSPT scores (school code #11). Mount de Sales will host the HSPT on December 10, 2022 should your daughter not be able to test at her home school for any reason. 

    4. Have transcripts and principal's recommendation sent to MDSA.
    Please make sure to include Mount de Sales on the release of records form sent to your family at the beginning of your daughter's eighth grade year. Your daughter's records and principal’s recommendation will then be sent directly to MDSA by her school. The principal referral will be included with the applicant’s records sent from her current school. The recommendation from your daughter's principal will fulfill both recommendation requirements, but you may provide additional letters of recommendations if you would like. All recommendations need to be sent to MDSA directly from the recommender.

    5. Complete scholarship applications by December 16, 2022.

    6. Complete Financial Aid Application (F.A.C.T.S.) by January 6, 2023 (optional).
    Tuition assistance is limited and need-based. Click here to begin a F.A.C.T.S. application.

    7. Schedule Candidate Interview.
    A 30-minute interview with the applicant and at least one parent/guardian will take place in January 2023. MDSA will contact applicant families in December 2022 to schedule. All applicants who have submitted an application by the December 16, 2022 deadline will be interviewed.
  • If the applicant attends an Archdiocese of Washington school

    1. Fill out an inquiry form.

    2. Submit your application by December 16, 2022.

    3. Take the High School Placement Test.
    Please select Mount de Sales as a school to receive your daughter's HSPT scores during online registration (school code #11). Mount de Sales will host the HSPT on December 10, 2022. Registration will open in early September.

    4. Have transcripts and principal's recommendation sent to MDSA.
    Parents/guardians should complete the Archdiocese of Washington’s Authorization to Release Records Form by mid-November. Your daughter's records and principal’s recommendation will then be sent directly to MDSA by her school. Only one recommendation from your daughter's principal is required, but you may provide additional letters of recommendations if you would like. All recommendations need to be sent to MDSA directly from the recommender. Mount de Sales accepts the Archdiocese of Washington packet as-is.

  • If the applicant attends a public or a non-Catholic private school

    1. Fill out an inquiry form.

    2. Submit your application by December 16, 2022.

    3. Take the High School Placement Test.
    Please select Mount de Sales as a school to receive your daughter's HSPT scores during online registration (school code #11). Mount de Sales will host the HSPT on December 10, 2022. Registration will open in early September.

    4. Have transcripts sent to MDSA.
    The Mount de Sales Request for Records form must be submitted to the applicant’s current school. The school will send transcripts directly to Mount de Sales.

    5. Request recommendations.
    Two academic recommendations must be submitted directly to MDSA. Forms can be completed by your daughter's current principal or teachers. A link to the form to send to the recommender can be found on your Sailor Portal admissions checklist. If the recommender prefers to fill out a paper-version of the recommendation, it can be downloaded here: Standard Recommendation Form. Additional letters of recommendations are not required but can be submitted if you would like.

    4. Have transcripts sent to MDSA.
    The home educator must provide a list of courses, textbooks, and progress for grades 6, 7, and 8 up to the current date. For students who do not earn numerical or letter grades, the home educator should provide a summary of the student’s progress for each class in each year. Students home-schooled through a program that issues transcripts must submit the Mount de Sales Request for Records form to that organization, which should send files directly to Mount de Sales. Students homeschooling through local school district approval should submit the Mount de Sales Request for Records form to the approving body, which should provide Mount de Sales with documents showing the students' academic progress in middle school.

    5. Request recommendations.

Sacred Heart Program at MDSA

The Sacred Heart Program at Mount de Sales Academy is a four-year program that provides accommodations and academic support based on the individual needs of each of its students. Applicants interested in the Sacred Heart Program must indicate their intention to apply for the program on their inquiry forms and application and will be required to submit appropriate documentation.

When applying, applicants “understand and acknowledge that receiving the application does not constitute a commitment by Mount de sales Academy, and that Mount de Sale Academy may deny admission if they determine that enrollment of the Applicant in the Academy would not be appropriate.”

Candidates and their parents/guardians must understand and be fully committed to supporting the mission of Mount de Sales Academy. Candidates must be in good academic, disciplinary, and financial standing at their previous institution, with no outstanding financial obligations.

All acceptances are conditional upon the successful completion of eighth grade. As a condition of acceptance, students may be required to attend and satisfactorily complete remedial summer math and/or reading programs prior to admission. All decisions regarding the acceptance of a student into Mount de Sales Academy are done with the highest emphasis placed on what is in the best interest of the individual girl.
