Job Title: Director of Alumnae Relations
Reports To: Executive Director of Advancement
Location: Mount de Sales Academy (MDSA), Catonsville, MD
 
Position Summary:
The Director of Alumnae Relations at Mount de Sales Academy plays a vital role in cultivating a lifelong connection between the school and its alumnae. This position is responsible for engaging alumnae of all generations in meaningful ways that support the school’s mission and advance its strategic goals. Through relationship-building, communications, events, and volunteer management, the Director fosters alumnae involvement that enriches the MDSA community and supports its development and advancement efforts.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Alumnae Engagement & Relationship-Building
  • Develop and steward relationships with alumnae to increase involvement in giving, volunteering, mentoring, and event participation.
  • Plan and host alumnae gatherings both locally and regionally (e.g., meetups, reunions, retreats) to deepen connections with MDSA.
  • Create individual and group engagement strategies, including milestone recognition (e.g., birthdays, professional achievements, personal celebrations).
  • Implement systems to collect and celebrate alumnae news and accomplishments.
Event Planning & Execution
  • Schedule, coordinate, execute, and communicate all alumnae events including:
    • Alumnae Association events
    • Alumnae Memorial Mass
    • Homecoming Weekend (Dance and Day events)
    • Annual Crab Feast
    • Weddings in the Chapel of St. Francis de Sales (in collaboration with the Archdiocese)
    • Alumnae Retreat (if applicable)
  • Manage planning, logistics, communication, and on-site coordination for each event.
  • Support Advancement/Development and Athletics events such as the Hall of Fame celebration.
 
Student Engagement & Future Alumnae Preparation
  • Coordinate and oversee student activities that build the foundation for lifelong alumnae engagement:
    • Your Participation Matters student giving campaign
    • Cupola visits
    • Senior Survey
    • Involve alumnae in student events and traditions (e.g., Fall Fest, Twisted Tunes, Christmas door judging).
Volunteer and Alumnae Association Support
  • Serve as a liaison to the Alumnae Association; provide event planning, meeting support, and administrative coordination.
•     Recruit, train, and thank alumnae volunteers who contribute to student activities.
  • Manage and grow the alumnae volunteer base for events, reunions, and school programs.
  • Oversee the Alumnae Association scholarships, including communication and coordination with recipients.
 
Communications & Content Development
  • Manage all alumnae communications across platforms, including:
    • Alumnae Updates emails
    • Printed/electronic collateral
    • Social media content (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
    • Alumnae sections of the website
  • Collaborate with Marketing/Communications to ensure branding, messaging, and strategy alignment.
  • Contribute ideas and articles for View from the Cupola and other school publications.
  • Collect alumnae updates and class notes for publications and internal records.
Database & Information Management
  • Maintain the integrity of the alumnae database by securing, updating, and tracking contact info, life milestones, and engagement history.
  • Track marriages/name changes, deaths, and coordinate memorial Mass intentions when appropriate.
Strategic Outreach
  • Engage alumnae from closed regional all-girls high schools, welcoming them into the MDSA community.
  • Develop relationships with legacy parents and grandparents of current students.
  • Create individualized strategies for alumnae of all generations, aligning with broader Advancement goals.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant fields include education, nonprofit management, communications, or advancement.
  • 3+ years of experience in alumnae relations, advancement, or community engagement, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and an understanding of all-girls school culture.
  • Strong event planning, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in database systems, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends for events and travel as needed for regional alumnae gatherings.
