Juliette Whittaker Gatorade Maryland Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year!

The Gatorade Company today announced Juliette Whittaker 22 of Mount de Sales Academy as its 2019-20 Gatorade Maryland Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Whittaker is the first Gatorade Maryland Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Mount de Sales Academy.  

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Whittaker as Maryland’s best high school girls cross country runner. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year award to be announced in February.

Juliette won the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland state meet this past season with a time of 19:08.58, breaking the tape 1:29.78 seconds ahead of her next-closest competitor and leading the Sailors to a third-place finish as a team. Whittaker also won the Maryland/DC Private School Championships in 18:59. After finishing seventh at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional championships, she earned All-American status by taking 13th at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships.
