MDSA Named Microsoft Showcase for Fifth Consecutive Year!
Mount de Sales Academy was selected as a 2020-2021 Microsoft Showcase School for the fifth consecutive year for their excellence in demonstrated student outcomes resulting from its commitment to educational transformation. Microsoft Showcase Schools are pioneers in education.
Mount de Sales Academy joins an exclusive community from around the world, recognized and celebrated for their educational transformation which includes vision and innovation in teaching, learning and assessment, computational and critical thinking, creativity and collaboration and a willingness to promote a growth mindset among educators and students.

Additionally, Val Fuecker, dean of student affairs, and Liz Johnson, social science department chair, were both recognized as Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Experts. Each year, Microsoft selects innovative educators to share ideas, try new approaches and learn from each other as a global community dedicated to improving student outcomes through technology. As an MIE Expert, educators build their capacity for using technology in both the classroom and curriculum to improve student learning. They also advise Microsoft and educational institutions on how to integrate technology in pedagogically sound ways, and advocate at conferences, events and trainings for how Microsoft technology can improve learning.
Mrs. Johnson adds, "We are honored Microsoft chose Mount de Sales as one of only 39 Showcase Schools in the United States. Recognition of our school’s leadership in education validates our efforts to consistently balance meaningful technology use with the development of our students’ social-emotional skills.
As we navigate through hybrid learning, our connection to the Microsoft Education community will allow us to share Mount de Sales’ successes, as well as benefit from other schools’ experiences. This year, in particular, we are grateful to be a part of the professional learning network that surrounds the MIEE and SCS programs and look forward to a year of opportunities."
