Archbishop Lori Blesses the Center for Performing Arts and Student Life

It is a historic time at Mount de Sales Academy (MDSA) as we celebrate the final phase of our Anchored in Excellence. Charting our Future. Capital Campaign and bless our new, state-of-the-art Center for Performing Arts and Student Life (CPASL), an $11 million project. The Most Reverend Archbishop William E. Lori attended this significant event and held a discussion with student council members, toured and blessed the CPASL, and then celebrated Mass with our school community.

Archbishop Lori shares, “After much work and prayer by so many members of our school community, we gather now to bless and dedicate this new Center for Performing Arts and Student Life. It will be a center for our school activities and a place where we may come to know one another and give witness to our faith in Christ.”

Principal Sister Mary Raymond Thye, O.P. adds, “This building has been a dream of Mount de Sales Academy for many years!  It is wonderful to have this opportunity, this hope, in the midst of the pandemic, for our students.  What better time for our students to be able to find their voice and grow into strong and confident women ready to take their place in this world.”

Director of Advancement Beth Saverino ’87 notes, “The Center for Performing Arts and Student Life exemplifies how the small but dedicated Mount de Sales Academy community comes together to support our students. The community came together in the 1970s and 1980s to ensure the survival of Mount de Sales and they continue to do so today to make possible a ten-year campus transformation with the Center for Performing Arts and Student Life being the crown jewel of the capital campaign.

MDSA student Katherine Kurek ’23 shares her thoughts, “I walked into this building… with its beautiful white tile and its chandeliers and its grand steps… and I am just awestruck and beyond excited.

After the blessing, the Mount de Sales Academy Concert Choir, under the leadership of Music Director Jeff Hosier, performed a beautiful rendition of Veni Veni, Emmanuel.
