Dr. Emma Lawrence Farbotka ’16

I graduated from Mount de Sales Academy in 2016, and 2025 has been an especially exciting year that I’m happy to share.
On April 25, 2025, I married my husband, Nick Farbotka, in Baltimore. We met in Baltimore in 2022, and it was a joy to celebrate this milestone surrounded by family and friends. It was especially meaningful to have several fellow Mount de Sales alumnae stand by my side in my wedding party, including Bridget Bodley Walsh’16, Liz Doda Feeley ’16, Sam Kenjorski ’16, Becca MacDonald ’16, Bridget Edmondson ’16, Maddie Gatto ’16, and my sister, Julia Lawrence ’18. Our wedding was also beautifully photographed by Elizabeth Mahon ’07, former MDSA Director of Alumnae Relations.
On May 22, 2025, I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine with my Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. I was also commissioned as a Lieutenant (O-3) in the United States Navy. During medical school, I participated in the Health Professions Scholarship Program, through which I will complete my residency in the military and then serve as a Navy physician following graduation.
In June 2025, I began my Family Medicine residency at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center in Fort Belvoir, VA. I will be stationed there for three years as I continue training to become a board-certified Family Physician.
Mount de Sales played an integral role in shaping who I am today. The school’s emphasis on faith, compassion, service, and leadership helped inspire my calling to medicine and strengthened my desire to care for others through both my profession and my military service. My Catholic faith, nurtured during my years at Mount de Sales, continues to guide me as I strive to serve patients with dignity, empathy, and humility. I am deeply grateful for the foundation, friendships, and values MDSA gave me—blessings that continue to guide me through every new chapter of life.
